"Patterns in the Primes" by Stephanie Hanson - Week 5 - MathSoc Public Lecture

In week 5 we are joined via video link from Australia by Stephanie Hanson, a York Alumn, who will be talking on the patterns in the prime numbers.

Abstract:
"Humans have studied prime numbers for thousands of years but some of the biggest mysteries in mathematics revolve around these simple objects. What can we write as the sum of two primes? How many prime numbers differ by 6? Why are there more prime numbers on the sequence 3, 7, 10, ... than on the sequence 1, 5, 9, ...? These are all unanswered yet deeply understandable problems and this talk aims to give some idea of the current state of play of these problems and more."
